Description: 

This two-day course will assist participants in understanding the multiple ways that children are affected by domestic violence and substance abuse.  The course will focus on the importance of identifying domestic violence and substance abuse dynamics in child protective cases.  The course will utilize case example and case consultation techniques to provide participants with the opportunity to translate the principles learned during the course to the assessment process.

   
Prerequisites:  

Prior to attending SP301, the following courses should be completed:

  • CP100 - Overview of Child Welfare
  • CP101 - DHS Manual
  • CP102 - STAR Tutorial
  • CP103 - Legal Fundamentals
  • CP104 - Medical Fundamentals
  • CP105 - Substance Abuse
  • CP106 - Domestic Violence
  • CP107 - Impact of Child Abuse on Child Development
  • SP200 - Basic Training
