Description: 

This course is the first of the sequence for intermediate training.  This three-day course will provide participants with specific information from a legal and medical perspective regarding the nine (9) types of child abuse.  The medical portion of this course will focus on indicators of each type of abuse.  Participants will be provided with the opportunity to review and discuss examples of each type of abuse from a physical, behavioral, and emotional perspective.

The legal portion of the course will address the law as it relates to the child protective assessment process. Participants will better understand the rules of evidence and the role of juvenile courts in child protection.

   
Prerequisites:  

Prior to attending the SP300, the following courses should be completed:

  • CP101 - DHS Manual
  • CP102 - STAR Tutorial
  • CP103 - Legal Fundamentals
  • CP104 - Medical Fundamentals
  • CP105 - Substance Abuse
  • CP106 - Domestic Violence
  • CP107 - Impact of Child Abuse on Child Development
  • CP200 - Basic Training
